More about Vic Chesnutt

I’ve been absorbed this week with the details of the death of Vic Chesnutt, the great singer-songwriter who died Christmas Day at age 45 from an overdose of muscle relaxers. His amazingly detailed songs have always touched on themes of illness and death, and the other day I found a transcript of this remarkable interview he did with Terry Gross of National Public Radio’s “Fresh Air” earlier this month that eerily presages his death. It’s a tough read in light of what happened last week, but compelling, especially if you dug Chesnutt and his music as I did. Word has it NPR might be re-airing the interview as a tribute to Chesnutt next week.
